“Wrap yourself in the Mantle of the Christ!”
In loving memory from the desk of Jean L. Widell, CS
Grief conquered, joy found
From the September 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal
… I asked myself a question: Was I so enamored with a material sense of life that I cherished it above all? The answer for me was that I felt enamored of my spouse, and I was, in a way, cherishing him more than I cherished God, divine Love. I realized that God is to be adored—adored more than a person—because God is the source of joy, and practicing that, praying that way, allowed the grief to give way to joy.
I have felt, feel now, and will always feel the power behind this statement: “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts” (Science and Health, p. 261).
… My days are filled with the companionship of thought-provoking ideas, love, gentleness, heart-to-heart talks, joy, and purposeful activity. I found that these did not come from my husband as I previously thought. They come to me directly from God, the source of “the enduring, the good, and the true,” who is Love, Life, Truth, Principle, Soul, Spirit, Mind.
What a joy to discover that we are wrapped in unending Love—yesterday, today, and forever.
